Well, it wasn’t the degree I started out wanting… I’m leaving my PhD program with a Master’s… but I am totally confident that it is the right thing. I was not enough “in love” with my field to want to stick with it too long. Call me a jack of all trades! :) I’m soooo excited to not be in school, I’ve been in some kind of school my whole freakin’ life since I was 2 years old, and I’m almost 26!!!!!!!

It’s the observing without judging. My self-judgment kicks in too fast. Just observe! Hopefully with more acceptance/understanding, I won’t hang on to or repress the feelings that come up so much, and my body will experience less unnecessary stress. Some of the emotions that come up are surprising to me – and then I’m surprised at how out-of-touch I became. I just don’t want to be afraid of my own feelings anymore. The top-down emotional management strategy does not work!
I saw some really neat-looking art quilts in a book. The patchwork and the topstitching can accomplish quite different representational goals. I have never quilted before but I am going slowly by hand, fixing things along the way, and it is really fun! When I’m done I hope it will look like a landscape, with flowy water and billowy cloud topstitching.
