After a hurried visit to the farmer’s market with my mother and grandmother, I catapulted home to hastily transplant my sprouts under the nerve-racking supervision of elder generations. Days of nursing, roller-coaster temperatures, and stinging winds left me with limp, yellow nubs of plants. I threw them out (to my mother’s horror) and took a whole day, alone, to peruse the local garden center, thoughtfully select my babies and plant lazily but carefully in the side-yard. They are doing much better this time around. I’m coming to realize that gardening is a personal journey which should be taken at one’s own pace. It’s not rocket science, it’s an investment. Make it your own.

How I did it: I took a weekly class at the YWCA. After a couple weeks I bought a 12kg kettlebell to practice at home in between classes. I've been working it into my routine at least twice a week ever since. Its great for busy people as it takes care of cardio and strength training simultaneously and gets your heart rate way up in a hurry. Oh, and it's fun! Read how I did it…
How I did it: We found ourselves eating at our neighborhood nepalese restaurant once or twice every week. We felt so silly ordering the same thing every time. Finally, we thought we'd test and see if they noticed our repetitive nature. We called up to order our 'usual' but, unfortunately, they had no idea what we were talking about. Over the next few weeks, we continued to order the same thing always prefacing it with 'the usual'. One day we called and… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Planned the basics from home (venue, cake, photographer) and then just let the rest fall into place. Keep things simple, the less details you have to look after, the less you will stress. Read how I did it…

I took my great grandfather’s accordion to be tuned. It will be out of the shop tomorrow and I have my first lesson.
I’m revising this goal to ‘never again purchase NEW leather shoes.’ I think that giving new life to someone else’s cast-off leather shoes should be acceptable. Good thing I can turn to etsy for cute, vintage options. Just cause I love the animals doesn’t mean I can’t love cute kicks.
