Took the watch today, and did the same run.
3.5 miles
26:09
7:45 mile
1st mile 6:45
Felt great, and pushed the hills hard. Have a lot of work to do on straight aways. I think I can lengthen my stride a good bit, and perhaps cut down time.
My dad (now 60) ran marathons for years. I think his PR is 2:42:00. I am going to team up with him and ask for some training. Stride, breathing, mental focus, etc. Anyone that can run that fast a marathon in his mid to late 30’s has earned my respect.
We’ll let you know how that goes. Good luck to all training, and those who want to….

After a busy weekend, I was only able to hit the EFX machine for one day. I went to Philly on Friday and saw KT Tungstall in concert (which was awesome), then to my in-laws to spend the evening, and then returned Saturday evening. 20 Minutes after our return we were due to have company over, so we had to hurry and get the kids ready for bed and the house straightened up. Had a small, intimate gathering, and went to bed at 0100. It wasn’t until yesterday that I even got to put on my shoes. I laced up and hit the road, knowing I only had about half an hour. I wanted an hour, and try the 6 miler again, but there was no time. I did a loop by my house that measures 3.5 miles. I tackled the hills and sprinted the straights. I did not take my watch, but it had to have been the best times for me. I was only gone slightly more than 35 minutes, and I had cooled down outside for almost ten…..how does anyone forget their watch??? But, the important thing was that there was the first week of NFL football on, I had already had a beer earlier, and I had lots of work to do, but I still got a run in!!! Also, for the second time, and consecutive, I did not stop to walk. I ran the whole way, and ran hard!
Can’t wait to do the loop again….with a watch. I have started a journal with time trails and events and such, and it has sorta become another one of my 43….writing a book. It’s a start, anyway.
Have a great day to all, and whatever it takes…..get out there!

Yup, decided that I am definetly getting one. My wife and I are throwing a party, called “Dr.-Ink Fest.” She is designing tattoos, and artist is coming to our house, and it’s going to be full out war. I have decided on something on my chest, just over my heart. My other option was something in the middle of my back, going across my shoulder blades….but I think I would like to see the tat. Just not quite sure yet. I have 2 weeks until the party, so plenty of time to design it, and consider its positioning.
