From Web Developer To Java Developer 7 months ago

Learning Java is mainly recreational for me. (Show’s how nerdy I can be sometimes)

I’m fluent in PHP, and use it on an almost daily basis. Been writing Web Apps for about 4 years now and would like to venture into desktop & mobile apps too.

I bought “Head First Java” and “Beginning Java ME Platform”.

“Head First Java” has been awesome so far. I’m able to see how Java relates very strongly to PHP in some aspects. Since I know PHP and Javascript so well, it’s been a breeze so far. A little boring though… I don’t much care to write apps for the console.

Can’t wait for the section on GUIs!

I’m in the process of setting up a business model to bring in enough money for at least two months of road tripping around the country with the only purpose of figuring out where I want to live next!
