Legalize Marijuana (A Letter to Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton) 2 years ago

Dear Ms. Clinton;

I am indeed rooting for you! I’m proud to say that I voted for your husband twice and am looking forward to voting for you as well. But I must say that I am still somewhat undecided due to several issues that have yet to be addressed. We, the American people, have yet to hear your stance on the topic of legalizing medicinal marijuana, let alone your thoughts on the decriminalization of marijuana, and the overall failure of America’s current War on Drugs. We feel that we have endured the injustice of imprisoning simple marijuana smokers long enough in this country. There hasn’t been enough emphases placed on this topic in either this countries current or prior administrations and it’s about time for a change, wouldn’t you agree? The last U.S. President who truly understood the reasoning behind decriminalizing marijuana was Jimmy Carter. President Carter was on the verge of turning things around in this country and saving the U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars through his initiatives. Unfortunately, Ronlad Regan and his “Just Say No” campaign shredded the hopes of millions of good Americans by grouping pot into a list of illicit and dangerous drugs making no distinction between it and heroin or cocaine. This set marijuana reform back in a major way, brainwashing millions of Americans into thinking that marijuana was as bad, if not worse, than other drugs. Don’t get me wrong, I do believe that this country needs some form of drug control; however, removing marijuana from the spotlight and allowing lawful citizens to partake in their God given right for recreational use of this harmless herb is a necessary first step in stabilizing and winning this countries War on Drugs. This would allow our law enforcement the means to proceed unimpeded without pursuing otherwise lawful and productive citizens who are doing nothing more than enjoying a smoke in the privacy of their homes.

Tax it! Regulate it! Legalize it!

Although my vote is not entirely contingent on this topic, it is being weighed carefully. We would appreciate your addressing this issue and taking action towards reforming the current law when you’re elected, Madam President. Thank you.

Best regards,

P.A.S.
