Well shit. Didn’t make it this year. Standard excuses… too busy with job. Vacation time spent going to family occasions (weddings, reunions, etc). Afraid of going outside. Standard stuff.
Maybe next year.

Okay, it’s hard to say I “missed the deadline” when I didn’t even make a good effort to meet the deadline. Didn’t set a workout schedule, didn’t watch what I’m eating… none of that.
Utterly failed. Shit.
I really enjoy my TV shows, so I never intended canceling cable to be a permanent thing. It started out when I was forced to move out of my home that damaged by hurricanes. I was put on the “seasonal” plan, so that I wouldn’t pay any bills, but I could start right back up with cable and (more importantly) my internet service when I moved back.
Well, I moved back, but my place isn’t conducive to watching TV. I still have to finish out the interior. Completely. I just barely have floors down, and paint on the walls. I didn’t want to keep moving my TV and couch, trying to work around them all the time. So I haven’t moved them in. But I do have my laptop, so I called the cable co, and cancelled everything except for the RoadRunner.
I have to admit, at times, I wonder what I can do to fill the time. Initially, I filled it with just wasting time on the nets. But I found I was going to bed earlier, getting better sleep, getting up earlier, and even losing weight without trying. Now, don’t get me wrong… I still like my TV shows. I have torrented a couple when I was really jonesing. But I have filled the space by making better use of my Netflix account.
I came across this great blog post that says all of the above so much better.
I was difficult at first, but I’m so happy I did it.
