This is a great thing to do. I’m currently reading Mario Puzo’s The Godfather …. hope to finish it by Friday. Yes, I’m a slow reader. Still, a week for a book like that is good enough time I guess!

If you’re using a computer, typing in the dark can help. Doing so enforces you not to look at the keyboard. I often do this at night.

Use a table lamp beside the monitor so that you don’t get an eye strain. Position the lamp so that the light don’t get on the keyboard. Good luck to all.

I've done this .... yay!! 3 months ago

Knowing the layout of your keyboard, knowing which finger to use for each key, practicing with a typing tutor program, using all the techniques you learn while writing anything like while chatting online (I’m a real chatter and this helped me a lot) and at any cost resisting yourself from looking at the keyboard can take you a long way and in comparatively shorter time. Never look at the keyboard. If you make a mistake, delete and type again, redo, but don’t look at the keyboard and maintain the finger to key mapping.

Start with slower pace, but try to make fewer mistakes. If you follow the basics, speed will automatically increase with practice.

Typing tutor apps help. I used a simple one called Talking Typing Tutor. I’m yet to reach the speed and accuracy I desire, but I think I’ve done 90% and it’s a huge improvement comparing to the time I wanted to achieve this goal. So, I’ll consider it done and it was worth it :)
