start a paper journal
Journaling.. 3 months ago

I received my first paper journal in third grade (it was Lisa Frank with a picture of ballet slippers on the front!) Ever since then I’ve always kept one. When I was around 18 or so I randomly stopped writing in them (I think it had a lot to do with a break-up that had happened around that time). I’ve tried to start again a couple years ago, but it just wasn’t the same…

I miss writing things in journals. I remember that it used to be a big way of relieving my stress and sort of unloaded my emotions. Online journals are nice, but they aren’t the same.

I think next time I go over to Barnes and Noble I’ll have a look at the journals. It’s worth a shot. Maybe I’ll pick out the perfect one and be able to write in it every day just like I never stopped.

Swim with stingrays
So cute! 3 months ago

Like many others, I was able to swim with the rays while in the Cayman Islands. I had been talking to some people who had done it and they said that it was pretty scary. I couldn’t imagine how it could be, so I went in totally fearless!

But it was sort of scary at first. They’re very large creatures, and they were totally unafraid of humans—they knew we had food! The sensation of them sucking the squid off my hand was one of the strangest feelings..and they would play around people’s legs and rub against them, sort of like cats!

Once we got used to them it was a lot of fun. Incredibly touristy, sure. But a remarkable experience none-the-less. :)

eat healthier
Grocery shopping! 3 months ago

My husband and I have been married almost three years now. We’ve noticed the last few months that we are definitely more…padded then we were back then. So, we’ve decided to start paying closer attention to our diets, and hopefully get in more exercise.

We went grocery shopping this morning and bought all sorts of healthy snacks and things we can use in actual meals. I’m so excited…I know that I’ll miss eating junk, but at least I can eat now without feeling really guilty about it. :) Plus, I feel more satisfied after eating things I know are good for me…maybe it’s psychological. It’s just a more satisfying fullness, rather than being full, but feeling empty (if that makes sense).

We bought lots of fruits and veggies (low fat ranch to go with those!), yogurt and loose granola, pickles (okay so they aren’t GOOD for you, but they aren’t bad for you either..), hummus, pita bread, some deli-sliced turkey and cheese for sandwiches, and edamame! I’m so excited about the edamame. I wouldn’t have thought our grocery store here would have carried it!

I really hope we can stick with this. Hopefully I can curb my cravings! :D
