I’ve been back and forth a couple of times, but drove from Portsmouth, NH to San Jose, CA back in 2001. Unfortunately, I was alone when I did it. Took 4 days, but would have been much more enjoyable with a companion. It really opens your eyes to how large America is.

Climbed it over Labor Day with friends.

Was a new moon, so hard to find our way to the lake, but we eventually did. Mid-summer, so the air was warm and the lake was not too cold. Only problem with it being so dark, I stepped in doggie doo in my bare feet. Next time…will bring a flashlight.
