Model for good writing?
It seems to me that good novel writing is very similar to Shakespeare. The novels I really love are driven by dialogue, with little exposition or descriptions. If I write a book (and I want to), I think I want to take Shakespeare’s approach (and Sophocles et alia) and write in almost entirely dialogue format. Harder to do, probably, but a better result I think.
Which is why I want to read Shakespeare. To understand how he drives a story by only dialogue (and some minor stage directions).
