stop using plastic bags
redundant bagging

I bought another re-usable bag at the grocery store the other day because I’d forgotten my canvas ones (again) and the bagger tried to put it in a plastic bag with the other purchased items. “Oh, you can use that bag to put the groceries in”, I said so she put the groceries she’d already bagged in plastic inside the re-usable bag (plastic bag included). and then used more plastic bags for the groceries that were left over.

adopt a cat
Jellybean and Violet

I adopted a 3-4 year old calico cat (Jellybean) from a shelter 2 years ago, and she has blossomed from a shy scared skinny kitty into a friendly, cuddly healthy cat. A few days ago I adopted a second one (Violet) and I’m waiting for the animals to get used to each other. Violet is also super shy, scared, and skinny, but loves to be petted and headbutted. She has claimed the bathroom sink as her favorite sleeping spot. It feels so good having saved 2 lives.

You should really consider adopting an adult cat from a shelter, its amazing how they really seem to know what kind of life (or lack of one) you saved them from. And they are grateful for it. Kittens are cute and wonderful too, however, they have a much better chance of finding a home than an adult cat.

write a book
Finding Time

The hardest thing about writing is finding the time, when you work a full time job and also want a social life. I found that getting up an hour early and going to the local coffee shop to write for a while before work is a good ritual (the prospect of good coffee waiting for me doesn’t hurt either)
