Since starting the planning process for my 2009 wedding, I’ve noticed an extreme lack of magazines that cater to the specific questions and needs of women of color, not to mention the almost non-existent models representing us in these wedding magazines. I may only be 24, but it doesn’t take a genius to realize that something needs to be done about this. Black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Indian, Native American, etc., we all get married, and there should be a fair representation of all of us in these magazines, but since there isn’t, why not create one for ourselves? In my research, I’ve found two online black wedding magazines, and a study done in 2006 about the lack of diversity in wedding magazines. I think it’s about time for a new magazine…
