my word means nothing if i don’t keep it. it’s june 1st and i don’t weigh less than 200 lbs. i’ve started training to walk a half-marathon and have lost a bit of weight so far, but i won’t be back until i reach this goal. see you when i do.

luv & hugs!

don't take things personally
easier said than done... 2 years ago

this is one of those goals that is never-ending. it is an attitude and a decision rather than a “do it and be done with it” goal.

i’ll consider this goal met when i’ve had and documented 10 instances of not taking something personally that i normally would.

if anyone has any recommendations for articles or books that have helped them with this goal, would you let me know? i’ll also post anything i find. i know this is one of the toltec “four agreements,” and it’s certainly the most difficult one for me to internalize.

make a difference
i've done this! i DO this! 2 years ago

here’s the thing…
i really wanted to add a particular new goal to my 43 things, but i had no room. so i looked at my goals to see if there were any i could move to my “i’ve done this” list.

the thing is, i really DO make a difference, in a lot of lives, almost every day. so when will i say that this goal has been reached? my goals need to be SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, timebound.) yet “make a difference” is more a way of life than a SMART goal.

my main mantra is “cause no harm.” it sounds passive, but it really isn’t. i’ve found by adhering to this ideal, i do make a difference by making this world a better place. from smiling at strangers to not eating animals to driving a hybrid car. when there is more than one road to choose from, i try to pick the one that causes the most good (or the least harm) to all involved. it works.
