Just came back from Jakarta – went there with the wife and kids. Stayed for 4 days in an apartment in the city centre. Everybody had a great time, especially the wife… she shopped till she dropped. She seemed overwhelmed in the beginning by the sheer scale of things, so many people, so much traffic etc -but in the end I think she’s starting to understand what it is I see in Indonesia. There is so much potential, the people are great, it really is a great country, and I think this is a pretty good goal to be having right now.

Should be starting on the partime classes on 4th of January 2007. Fastest route is 2.5 years and slowest is 5 years.
I was worried about doing a partime course considering I was targeting an overseas posting in a couple of years. But within the last month, I’ve moved to a project guaranteed to run for at least 2 years, and since it’s a Worldwide MBA they run classes in the very countries that I am planning to get posted to in 2 years, and I can go for classes there with no extra charge in fees – luck or what?
OK, paid off fully one of two cards I have… so gotten through the major hurdle.
Last week, around the time I finished paying off that first card I watched a show about Warren Buffett on TV – I think it was called “The Billionaire Next Door” showing how he basically has a pretty average lifestyle considering how rich he is. Anyways, when asked if there was any single sound financial advice he could give, guess what he answered? His answer was, “Stay away from credit cards” and he explained how he knew of people who got into a lot of difficulty because of them. Sound advice.
