I didn’t think that that would be the way it ended, but it was. And it sucks. But I wouldn’t change who I am, and my capacity to love, for anything. The best thing I can do is try to keep my heart open, even as I heal. I would do it again. Because anyone worth loving is worth crashing for, and love, so beautiful, is worth the risk.

Did you know that beds in the early 1900’s were shorter than they are today? Well, I didn’t. Until, of course, I got this super deal on an iron bed I found on Craigslist that I drove all the way to Santa Rosa to get. Now, my bed, squished onto the frame and hiked a couple inches up at the end, teetering on the frame, is going to have to go back onto the old frame while I get the pretty iron one welded to lengthen the iron rails… which essentially negates my superness of the deal but nevertheless continues the goal of redecorating my bedroom. I have a vision. It’s getting there.
It has been six months since I quit. I actually get grossed out when I smell cigarettes on people. I think I knew it was pretty solid when I thought about it as a deal breaker in a potential partner who was a smoker. Yeah, I’m a quitter! Damn straight! Now, I get that teeth whitening that I promised myself after six months of quitting—yeehaw!
