Hadn’t read this book since middle school and decided to give it another try. It is absolutely masterful. Timeless. Really makes you think about how you judge people and modern race relations.

How I did it: I always said if he did another U.S. tour, that I would go no matter how much it cost. Low and behold, he did a few US dates this summer with one in Atlanta (about 4 hours away). I got a ticket immediately, the priciest ticket I have ever bought. I had grown up listening to the Beatles, thanks to my dad who is a big fan. Last Saturday I went to various Civil War sites around Nashville. I went to Shy’s Hill, where the Confederates were driven back by the Union army when they tried to retake Nashville in 1864. I also visited the remains of an earthen Confederate fort called a Redoubt. It is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, but still very cool. Also right down the street was the city’s monument to the Union and Confederate armies.
Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I had read the Da Vinci Code and thought it was okay, but not great. My brother insisted I try Angels and Demons and I loved it. The plot is similar, but I think it’s better written and more suspenseful. Not very thought provoking or anything, just a great read.
