find the name of a song i only know some of the lyrics to
Red Hot Chili Peppers 8 months ago

I’ve done this loads of times thanks to Google. I remember this one time I had about five words of a line of a song stuck in my head. Like, it just popped into my head randomly one day and would not leave. It was just about killing me trying to remember what song it was, if it was a real song at all, or if I was just going crazy!

When I finally googled I was delighted to see I was not going crazy, it was ‘By the Way’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers, and I also listened to the whole song (of course then the whole thing was stuck in my head instead of five words. Good thing I love the song:)

spend an entire day watching the extended version of all three Lord of the Rings movies back-to-back-to-back
love for LOTR 8 months ago

My sister and I have been planning to do this since last year. It seems we can never decide on a day when we both have nothing to do (sad I know). Usually when we really do have nothing to do, we end up doing other things together! Just hanging out etc.

Now that I’ve made this an actual goal…I’m gonna make her work towards this! Grr…also, she’s getting married in July. I’m determined to do this before then, because it’ll never be the same. I know this for a fact, as we have three other siblings that are married. Gonna check my calendar ASAP!

grow my hair
a continuacion hair growth 8 months ago

Hahaha…I have no idea if my title makes sense. Growing my hair long is something I’ve told myself several times I would do (for an indefinite length of time) but somehow I always ended up getting frustrated and cutting it short again (I cut my own hair so it’s pretty much a few minutes between decision and the actual thing happening).

This time it’s different. I figured when I get old I’m not going to look good with long hair (which old person does!?) so I should do it now when I have the opportunity. In trying to take some measure of prevention against me impulsively giving up and cutting it, I chose a date in the future to work towards. I wrote in my journal, “I’m not cutting (except for the occasional 1/2” trimming) my hair until March 22nd 2010”. I wrote that in September 2008. So a full 18 months!

So far it’s been great, and I only trimmed it once (in February), and plan to trim it in July. I’ll let you know how it goes :)

drink 10 cups of coffee in one evening (read all 2 entries…)
I did it! 20 months ago

So I finally achieved this goal…and it took two attempts before I could do it!Even though I love coffee. I wrote a mini-blog while I was drinking my 10 cups of coffee:

“Cups 1-2

I didn’t really react much to this. Two cups of coffee is no biggie and I’ve done it many times before. Heck just last night I had two cups of coffee. Although that was notably stronger coffee. I’ve decided to make my coffee not TOO strong as I’ll be downing ten cups of the stuff.
I did find myself skipping through the house while I was waiting on the kettle to make my third cup – I decided that I’m gonna make each cup (using Nescafe Instant Gold) rather than brew a lot and just keep pouring (cause then it would just get bitter and weird after a while).

Cup 4

So I’m on to Cup number Four. I have to say, Cup #3 was quite uneventful. This is one is definitely stronger though, so look out for some fun! I’ve been using a whiteboard marker to label the cup each time I make a new one, just to make sure that I don’t get lost in counting. I want to make sure I drink ten cups! Not nine cups. Not eleven cups. Ten cups!
Hehehe. While I was making my fourth cup I began to wonder exactly why I am doing this. After all it’s all just based on a song. Why do I feel the need to drink ten cups of coffee in one night? I wonder how many other people have done this. And how many have done so because of Green Day?
Well…never mind all that. I’m trudging on. Well, drinking on. Hehe.

Cup 5

Okay, so the halfway mark. But I’m still not sure about this whole thing. Maybe it’s ‘cause I feel a bit queasy. Hmm, I should eat something…burgers…yummy.
All the while I’ve been chugging coffee I’ve also been writing up a lab. Well, I don’t know if writing is the right word. After all, this lab is a little less research and writing and more doing. I’m using computer programmes to simulate ecosystem models, and work out the probability of extinction of different species of animals. It’s for a course called Conservation Biology, and yes, I’m a Greenie (as my lecturer would say). Heehehe.
It’s not that hard really, just VERY time-consuming! I’ve been going at it since roughly about midnight and it’s 0318h sigh and I would say I’m only about 20% done. Jeezaloo!! Okay, I’m gonna get cracking on that and also make another cup of coffee while I’m at it. Burgers will have to wait.

Cup 6

Maybe I just need to stop thinking and just continue drinking, but this feels all wrong. QUEASY!!! Grrr…

Cups 7-8

Wow! That was one DE-licious burger! Yeah…I just took a break from that tedious lab to cook up a burger. It was worth it. It certainly helped me through Cup #7.
Now that I’m on to my eight cup, I’m starting to feel better about this. After all, the finish line is in sight, I’m getting my work done, and I’ll be able to tell everyone I drank ten cups of coffee, including Green Day, when I meet them. Whenever that happens.
Anyhow, I can’t wait to write 10 on my cup – and then proceed to drink it down!!

Cup 9

This is not fair. So many nights I stay up trying to do work, and I’m awake sitting at my desk, but my brain and eyes are just SO tired I can’t do a thing! And now that my brain is all wide awake and alert, I’m feeling all weird inside and can’t concentrate on my work. I think the number nine is a waste of time – if it didn’t exist then I’d be pretty much at my goal.

CUP 10!

I am happier that I’m on Cup # 10 than anything else in the world right now! This is it – the be all and end all. I’m enjoying this cuppa, and incidentally it tastes better than the last nine. Or maybe that’s just the sweet taste of victory. Ha.
1/3 more cup to go…hehehe!!!
Ooohh…it’s dawn…pretty sky.
I’m laughing aloud now. The caffeine I suppose sigh hehehe…but you know, it doesn’t feel like that much now. Like, oh it’s just 10 cups. Bah! What am I talking about? Four cups ago I was STRUGGLING!

There! That’s it!! I’M DONE!!! I JUST DRANK 10 CUPS OF COFFEE!!!
HEHEHEHE!!

sighsmile hehehehehe….
I do hope I can maintain my composure for the next few hours, because I’m so excited! Hehehe…and slightly hyper. But oh, only slightly.”

I was SO hyper for hours after. Right after I was done I was talking to myself and singing, (non-stop!) for quite sometime while I was doing other things. It was kinda funny :D

find an online penpal
Around the world in less-than-80 emails 2 years ago

I tried penpalworld.com,like some people suggested. It was great! It’s pretty cool…now I have penpals from at least eight different countries..all pretty amazing people.
I’ve learnt so much about other countries and cultures..and I get to tell them about where I live!
Yeah…this was definitely worth doing :)

pull an all nighter
yay! The thing I'm most accustomed to-lack of sleep! 2 years ago

I never actually gave this much consideration before now. I’ve done this tons of times, whether to study, or complete some asignment that I procrastinated on (i.e. MANY assignments), or just by not realising that the night was going by (this is usually in the vacation or some other fun time…on the other occasions I would be watching the time and willing it to go slower so that I would have enough time to finish my work!!)

But it’s worth it either way…I get to finish my work or have fun! The sleepiness the next day can be counteracted with caffeine!! Although, it’s not really good to have the caffeine (whether coffee, tea etc) during the night. I realised (finally) that this would only give me a short boost of ‘awake-ness’ and then I would get REALLY DROWSY. It’s much better to have just water or juice.

Take my vitamins every day
Blurry lines of goal completion...? 2 years ago

These types of goals are always hard to classify as achieved. Beyond which point can you say that you successfully take vitamins every day? One week? Two? A month?
I always wanted to be able to take vitamins on a regular basis, especially cod liver oil, as it has so many benefits, including stress relief(which I need!)
Earlier this year, I just made up mind to try to remember to take my vitamin every day. Every morning before running out the house (most times literally running) I somehow remember to stop and pop a vitamin in my mouth.
Today I realised that I have been taking my vitamin every day for practically four months!! I think I can now say that I have achieved taking my vitamins daily :-)

Write my name in wet cement
oh..I didn't know... 2 years ago

...that this was such a big deal. I did this several times. Once my siblings and I wrote all of our nicknames together in some fresh cement in the backyard; and another time it was just my sister and I, we also put our cats’ paw prints!!
It was fun, and looked cute. It’s still there…:-)

finish my Caribbean Civilisation coursework assignment on time
procrasatination and post meridiem 2 years ago

I actually finished this in two hours on the morning it was due. I was supposed to finish it for Saturday and about half the class(ALOT of ppl…incl. ME)thought that the online submission was due at midnight (it said 12pm) but of course!! 12pm really means 12noon which I realised about 12:15pm….of course. Thankfully, due to the mix-up, the deadline was extended to Tuesday, (with Easter and all) and I completed it!! yay!!
I really did not realise how short it was until I did it…in retrospect I am amazed at WHY exactly I couldn’t have finished it way before. But anyway, now on to other things!

watch scrubs
Untitled 2 years ago

I always saw noticed this in the tv guide when flipping through, and one day I decided to see what it’s about…needless to say I got hooked on it!! (and that was during my vacation…so lots of free time)
This show can be so amazingly funny and pointless, yet meaningful…it’s just crazy fun!!

play in the rain
rain is goood 2 years ago

I love playing in the rain!! I’ve done this tons of times, ever since I was small!! I still do it from time to time, especially when I’m tired/frustrated/angry or studying for exams, and just need to clear my head with cold rain!!(especially if it’s nighttime)

go to the Cricket World Cup 2007 (read all 2 entries…)
Day for the Minnows 2 years ago

Well I’ve been to three of the four warm-up matches held here in Trinidad, and they were all good! I also got to meet my favourite cricketers!! (from South Africa and Pakistan) and some of the Irish players as well. I think Ireland has made a really good impression here, and in Jamaica as well, and they are presently killing Pakistan!(103/7) :-/
I’m going to the Sri Lanka/Bangladesh match on Wednesday, and looking forward to it…the Bangladeshis are really friendly, and deserve a chance. It must be hard for them to be playing against India today, after receiving news that one of their fellow cricketers died in Bangladesh (in a motor vehicle accident) yesterday. But they’re doing great so far!!They have India at 169/9…

go Iceskating
a few technical problems 2 years ago

This might be a tad bit difficult seeing as I live in the Caribbean, and there are no ice-skating rinks here :-/
BUT hopefully I will get to try this sometime soon!! maybe if I go Canada this year I’ll see if I can go.
That’s alot of ‘ifs’. sigh

go hiking
Untitled 2 years ago

I’ve only done day long hikes but hope to go on a weekend trip sometime later this year with the hiking club here on campus.
Hiking is so exhilarating!!
I especially love hikes where it’s more climbing than actually just trekking(hence my rock-climbing goal), and ones where you end up at a beautiful waterfall or get an amazing view(like the picture..I took that from the top of a mountain). I’ve taken tons of pics on hikes! :-)

Own a cat
Impossible to do :-) 2 years ago

Owning a cat is impossible to do, as anyone who has had a cat will tell you. You can have a cat, keep a cat, have a cat live with you etc. but you can’t own a cat-they’re way too independent for that!!That’s why it’s so great to have cats, even if they could be a little stuck-up sometimes, they just totally take care of themselves, all YOU have to do is remember to feed them.
Cats are the best pets in the world to have!!They’re sweet and warm and fuzzy(especially when sleeping with you on cold nights).
I’ve had at least one cat all the time since I was a baby. The most I’ve ever had at once is 7!! (well, five of those were kittens!!)

Listen to Green Day
listening to GD is GOOOOOD! 2 years ago

Listening to Green Day is most definitely WORTH DOING!!!This is so simple and so great…just put it on, and turn it up…!
Alot of people don’t like GD’s earlier lyrics, some people don’t like their present song lyrics, but it’s all good! Whether you’re just pissed off and feeling to scream ‘I hate you’ or whether you just want to listen to some absolutely good music….they really are the best in the punk rock world….despite what other people might say!

GREEN DAY!!!

I got this idea from Green Day’s song Homecoming-Nobody Likes You(on American Idiot) where he sings,
“I fell asleep while watching Spike TV,
after ten cups of coffee and you’re still not here.”
I’ve always wanted to try it, especially since I’m up late anyway. I mean, heck, the most that’ll happen is some dehydration and hyperactivity…

^ MARK BOUCHER (presently my favourite cricketer(he’s South African)

I have always wanted to go to some major world sport event. I love sports and especially cricket and football(soccer)!!and so FINALLY now that the Cricket world cup is here in the Caribbean I have the opportunity to go. It’s so exciting knowing that something so big is being held here.
I have tickets for two of the warm-up matches(in which two of my favourite teams are playing-South Africa and Pakistan) but I have to go back to get tickets for the actual matches (I couldn’t decide which ones I want to go to!).I have to hurry before they all sell out.
