A New Take on Gratitude 5 days ago

I saw something truthsayer wrote recently in regard to gratitude and liked her approach. She made the statement, I’m not in a war zone. And that made me think about expressing gratitude with an “I’m not list”. So, I thought I would give it a try today:

1. I’m not in a fight with any of my friends or family
2. I’m not in any physical pain
3. I’m not paralyzed
4. I’m not mentally impaired
5. I’m not heart broken.

and, as truthsayer put so very well, I’m not in a warzone!

Although I realize it is a little unconventional to express gratitude like this, the list made me want to sit up a little straighter and perhaps get outside and take in and appreciate life more. Thanks to truthsayer for today’s new approach to expressing gratitude. :)

I just bought an ORIGINAL jenny bean (43 Things member) scarf! 5 days ago

Handmade…Description of the scarf written by jenny bean :

The scarves are hand-made using stencils I’ve cut from pressed leaf designs. Leaf shapes are burned out of silk/rayon velvet using the devoré technique. The velvet is colored with Procion MX dyes. I also hand-paint the leaf shapes with thickened dyes and Lumiére metallic dye-paints. I sew a fine wool to the silk/rayon to add texture, substance and drape to the scarf. The fringe is hand-twisted from the wool backing.

The quality of this scarf looks and sounds amazing and it is custom designed…a one of a kind! I have no doubt this scarf will be extraordinary!!

Volunteer on a regular basis to help kids with Autism and Down's Syndrome. (read all 2 entries…)
Wednesday before the big day Saturday 1 week ago

Saturday, we are expecting 27 special needs kids to attend the Mountain Miracles program, where these families are invited to stay, cost free at or near a gorgeous resort in Helen, GA, in order to get a much needed break from a sometimes difficult life.

As a sort of “dry-run” on Wednesday, I put together and led an obstacle course for about ten Downs kids and Autistic kids. They loved it and every kid that started the course, completed all ten stations of the obstacle course. Even the slightly grouchy kids ended up with a smile on his or her face.

I also taught a girl with Down’s Syndrome to play pool, which fascinated and thrilled her. And, I spent almost an hour with Heather, a severely impaired child who is very picky with whom she will agree to spend time with, so it was a great compliment that she accepted me!

I am thankful for the chance to touch someone’s life who is need and attempt to give back at least a fragment of all the blessings in my life that I have received.
