I dropped out of my Chinese studies to attend a one year intensive Japanese course. ½ of my classmates think its really cool, the other half think I’m insane.
Its hard going from being one of the very best in Chinese class to being nothing special in Japanese class.
I must stress that I am going to finish my degree in Chinese, this is just a “detour”.

How I did it: I attended Copenhagen Business School where I studied at the Asian studies programme. I had a only year intensive course in chinese, followed by another year part time. I studied a lot of the first year, i focus on building my vocabulary since it is to damn important the ability of converse. I had a language partner whom I met with once in a while. I remember that my mother wanted me to bicycle more, so she bribed me with one box of twelve 1½ litre coca colas per year to keep me to it. The best was to open up a fresh coca cola and sit in front of the computer and get gaming. However, this addiction was not without a price. I suffered from serious acne problems that really affected m… Read how I did it…
I just added this crazy goal.
I don’t even visit 43things that often. I come here a few times a year to take a look at how i’m doing in my life. But then it stuck me, 43things is filled with people who are goal orientated and focused on self improvement – thats already a pretty good dating material.
The time horizon is indefinite, there are not so many 43things users here in Denmark I think but I would mind to travel to some other country to have my date.
This goal with have to lie in the idea-drawer for a few years. When I finish studying japanese I will focus on improving the foreign languages I already know: English, German, Chinese and Japanese. I need to improve what I have until I throw myself into yet another language.
