patience 2 years ago

as with all brilliant things, the key is patience.

a friend of mine has been belly dancing for 4 years and she sees girls joining for a few classes, and then get disappointed because they can’t execute the beautiful moves in 3 classes.

i’ve been taking ballet for almost a year now and i can slowly see a difference but it comes slowly because it’s physical and although the mind is willing, the body has its own time zone! the only way to improve faster is by dedication and discipline to working out your body.

be patient and the rewards will be greater! good luck!

I’ve had 5 lessons so far and it’s coming along really well. As I have a one-on-one class with my teacher, I learn a lot faster because I get her full attention. The only limitation at the moment is just the strength of my muscles.

So far we’re working on strengthening my leg muscles and not doing any hand exercises. Frankly, that’s quite enough to think about for now, what with all the feet, thigh, hip, stomach and head positions to think about while executing a step!

All in all, a brilliant decision of mine to take up ballet. I’m not regretting it one bit.

Have my wisdom teeth taken out
It's not as bad as everyone says 3 years ago

I’m a 23 year old female and I had my lower left wisdom tooth removed yesterday.

The surgeon gave me amoxycillin (antibiotics to prevent infection), ibuprofen (painkillers) and a mouthwash.

It’s now less than 22 hours since I had the surgery and there is no pain at all in my mouth (I only had 2 rounds of painkillers), no bleeding after the first hour (it got painful having the gauze putting pressure on my stitched-up gum) and I now only have major swelling on my left cheek.

The gum layer was flipped back to allow the surgeon to cut through the bone and pull out my tooth (whole, luckily my roots weren’t that deep in).

That’s the biggest bummer of the whole operation. I have been using ice packs yesterday and this morning, but I’ve found out that moist heat is good for after the first 2 days. That is, rinse a towel with warm water, wring it out then place it on the swollen area. And don’t move your jaw or you’ll inflame the muscle even more.

Overall, nothing to complain at all about the surgery except for the swelling (I look horrible!). Very minimal pain after surgery for maybe half an hour after the anaesthetic wore off.

Please don’t get hooked on yr painkillers, Valium, whatsoever. Wait it out and it’ll be over more quickly, frankly. Or just go to a better (more expensive) surgeon. It really makes a difference if you’re worried about post-op sensations.
