I’ve decided that the main ‘repair’ I want to learn is to change a tire tube by myself. This summer, I watched a guy do it, but I haven’t done it myself yet. I need to buy the tools.

How I did it: I made a New Year's Resolution for 2009 to practice yoga daily for at least 15 minutes. Every day, I unrolled my mat and practised - even if I just did 15 minutes of sun salutations or restorative yoga.As my practice became more routine, I found that my 'short practices ' were often at least 30 minutes and most of the time, I was practising yoga for at least one hour.Practising every day strengthened my practice, but it also made it possi… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I took a four hour class (two evenings) at a local knitting shop. The class included four hours of instruction, a simple pattern, and all the wool and tools we needed to finish the project. The cost was $80 (Canadian). The instructor showed us how to cast on 'in the round'. I learned a new cast on technique. I followed up by watching that same technique demonstrated on YouTube to make sure I was doing it correctly (in fact, I wasn't).Most … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I first made a list of people I wanted to get in touch with. I revised this list as I discovered that some people were no longer find-able, adding new people. Whenever had chanced upon the memory of an old friend, I would add them to my list and try to find them. Read how I did it…

This was a pie-in-the-sky goal for a long time, but I’m finally making some progress. This summer, I went to a yoga studio where handstand is taught with enthusiasm and got lots of help. Lately, I’ve been practising handstand every day and last week, I was able to come up into a balance without a wall. I’ll consider this goal ‘complete’ when I can do it reliably without a wall.
I struggled along on my own with toe-up socks, but after two years go hemming and hawing and struggling and giving up, I threw in the towel and took a class.
And taking that one three-hour class was totally worth it! I’m a visual learner and I need to see things to understand them. By the end of the class, I had knit one tiny ‘training sock’ and I knit another at home on my own.
I’m signed up for a ‘top down’ sock knitting class in a couple weeks and I’ve already started on a full size toe-up sock using the techniques I learned in the class. I’m on my way!
