I didn’t discover Octavia Butler until after she died. There was a post about her death on www.concreteloop.com which sparked my interest. The first one of her books that I read was “Wild Seed” and so far, it is my favorite. After Wild Seed I read “Parable of the Talents”, “Kindred”, “Fledgling”, and “Imago”, in that order. I’ve ordered “Lilith’s Brood” and “Adulthood Rites” from Amazon and am eagerly awaiting their arrival. I’m going to order “Mind of My Mind” next. From the excerpts I’ve read, I think I will enjoy My Mind as much as I did Seed.
Ms. Butler is an exceptional writer, and I’m lucky to have found her. It’s just too bad that I’ll never get the chance to meet her.

One thing that really helps me to think more in Spanish is listening to music in Spanish. I’d like to add to my Latin music collection. Right now I only have Shakira, Juanes and Manu Chao (2 albums per artist). Oh yeah, and I got the Celia Cruz greatest hits album somewhere around the house. I’ll have to look for it, cause it’s a really good album.
Also, reading books in Spanish helps too. Right now I’m reading “Once Minutos” by Paulo Coelho. The author’s Brazilian so it’s a translation from Portuguese, but I’m still learning a lot of great vocabulary.
I’m giving myself 12 weeks to get really fluent so I can pass the DELE (Diploma de EspaƱol como Lengua Extranjera) Nivel Superior in November.
WISH ME LUCK!
