I'm doing 4 things
I have been building my own PCS since 1981, and trust me, once you’ve successfully gotten your feet wet, you’ll never forget your first... Mine had with two 5 1/4” floppy drives and was loaded with 512 KB (yes! I DO mean kilobytes!) – it was the trickest machine in town. Of course, things have changed monumentally since then.
Anyhow, although I have continued the tradition of building my own, I am by far an expert. I do it because it’s a challenging and fun. However, due to technological advances both frequent and huge, it’s sometimes hard to stay on top of the latest and greatest. And, this this latest urge to build my own is no exception.
That said, I suppose the first thing that I would recommend to others as well as myself would be to take the time to find out what’s out there now. Get current! Find out what the buzz is, and most importantly, find out what it is that people like yourself are recommending. Despite the plethora of reputable and established review sites available online, I tend to place greater value on the advice and recommendations of my peers. I mean, for a person to actually take the time to sit down, type out, and offer their view or personal opinion on a product or service, voluntarily and without the prospect of compensation (monetary or otherwise), then my guess is that they done so for legitimate (albeit good or bad) reason.
