How I did it: I have had a savings account since age 12. Ever since then my goal was to reach $1,000. On May 11, 2009 I accomplished my goal. This was hard! I used to love going on shopping sprees. We celebrated our first year together as a MARRIED couple. It was a hard year of learning, but worth it.
Not only is there one person’s crap to deal with (mine) but two (my husband’s..only been married for year)...so getting rid of stuff has been become almost overwhelming. I am actually just not even thinking about it and throwing stuff in the donation pile. As a former hoarding it’s kind of fun, empowering almost.
Good thing he has caught on. He told his mom to stop buying clothes for us. We already have so much of everything that we're in the process of getting rid all this junk.
