Today I remembered the story of the little girl in Japan who survived the Hiroshima blast only to later sucumb to leukemia from radiation poisoning.
She tried to fold 1000 paper cranes, believing that by doing so, she would realize her wish to be cured. Her story is told in the book Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes.
A local Japanese-American community group recently had a fund raising event for the people of Japan, including a crane-making booth.
Time for me to make more cranes…

Presale for a concert in August is today, and tickets are $100 each. I would like to go, but prefer to go with a friend or date (I’m a single woman). None of my friends are willing to commit this far in advance, and I don’t really want to purchase 2 tickets without knowing someone will buy the second, or even if there will be someone to go with me.
At this point, I’d rather not go than spend money on a ticket that might not get used. It might be possible to re-sell the pair of tickets, but given this performer, it’s not guaranteed.
What to do?
