Talking about jobs (my previous entry)... A former college mate offered me a couple days ago a job, well, not exactly… I’ll make the story short: He told me about a company what’s looking people to work “making calls”. I asked him if it was telemarketing, he said “no, well, not exactly, kind of…” and then “you won’t be selling anything, but you’ll work with a phone and a pc”. He’s telling me they pay extremely well (he even told me numbers, and well, let’s say those were real great numbers), and that they’re looking for people to start yesterday. Problem is… I feel it sounds too good to be true (or at least, to be completely good). I also know a little bit about this guy, and I can tell (because of what I’ve seen and heard) his methods and circumstances… May not be necessarily legal sometimes. He, in fact, he has a “kinda weeeeird” way of living. Besides, when I asked him for the exact address of the office, or at least a phone number, he just gave me a vague address (which is, by the way, a place where I wouldn’t exactly feel safe) and no number or email, or whatever-like.
...So, I don’t know… I have a hunch… I’ve a couple bad feelings about it. I know I need to get a new job (my current one, well, it’s a dead end road, filled with equal amounts of good moments, and crap, but that’s another story), I also know I should have “some guts and try it without any doubt or fear”... and I know I NEED to start settling down: I’m planning to get real serious with my partner (despite all of my terrible mistakes, but that’s another story too!), so, I need to make a serious, adult, responsible life, but… I also think that having a calm, clear, quiet mind is priceless.
I had a job once, a year ago… Cashier, at a strip club. That was my worst job, ever. It’s a terrible story. And, coincidentally, I got it in a VERY similar situation, so, it makes my hunch harder.
What should I do?
What do you all think about this?
Should I just “take some guts” and try, even if I have bad feelings about it?
Should I just keep my plan of waiting for this year to end, and start looking a decent, better job next January?
I’ll really appreciate your answers :) Thanks.
