With my career change to a student and assistant this fall, I will need to know SQL for the database work that the professors do. I bought a book and am trying to remember some of the language that I previously new (but forgot).

I started blogging in Dec 2008 with the selfish purpose of simply improving my writing. I am not sure if I am improving, but find bloggging fun as it allows me to be creative and offer my own thoughts on a variety of subjects.
I am also flattered that a few people even enjoy my material.
I earned a BA in Criminal Justice several years ago, and then was employed at a police department. I changed jobs to non-law enforcement work, and at the same time finished an MS last year.
After alot of work and probably more luck than I will admit, I was offered a fully funded opportunity to begin studying as a PhD student in the fall of 2009. I am excited and a little scared.
I played sports all through hs, and did lots of recreational sporting in college. I finished first in my police training class in physical fitness, but my time for running became less and less as I added more responsibilities. Now with 3 young kids, my effort is focused on them, and my running is currently on hold.
I have taken many courses in Spanish and used it some while policing, but only stumble my way through the language. I want to be able to speak conversationally.
