Hmmm…I just went to a hot spring, but didn’t hike there, so still working on this goal.
I built a headboard! This was a great first project. I learned tons, can see room for improvement, but am very pleased overall. There are some great plans (free!) at www.ana-white.com. Great community of folks building over there, too.
I never did build that workbench, but today I started building a headboard. Between work being in one direction and the garage I’m using to build in another, it probably won’t be complete until next weekend, but I’m really excited!
One of the commuter trains out of DC makes a stop in Harpers Ferry, WV. My goal is to find a weekend to take an outbound commuter train on Friday afternoon, hike to the trail, set up camp, and make it back onto an inbound train Monday morning, enjoying the Appalachian Trail all weekend.
Foiled! I had a ticket to their game against the University of Maryland, but the intense snow storms kept me away from campus. So close!
Alright, this year might be the year. I need a big field or driveway, tin pin plates, pudding, and a ton of whipped cream. This feels like something that should have been on Double Dare, but I’m going to go with it.
I enjoyed the opportunity to be in Fort Worth for my old co-worker’s wedding and a couple nights before the big event we went to Billy Bob’s. It was great! Fantastic dancing – wish I was that good!
...of picking up fresh produce from a local farm. In a week, I go to visit the farm for the first time. Can’t wait! Totally worth doing.
...just met with a farmer that I typically buy produce from throughout the summer, and signed up for a full share to split between us. I’ll count this as complete once I get my first share and make a meal with the contents. :) I was thrilled to find that the farm does CSA because I’ve been buying their produce and enjoying it very much for the last few years.
The big, ugly process of applications and waiting to hear back is over, and I’ve accepted an offer from a school and plunked down a deposit. Starting grad school full time in August!
...Rock Guitar classes tomorrow! Very excited to take my minimal knowledge to a (hopefully) better level.
...the majority of a 10k a few weeks ago. Counting this as done, and excited about an 8k that I’m signed up for in March.
...applications! If I actually spent all the time I’ve said I was working on applications, you know, working on applications, I’m sure I’d be done. But that’s a whole other stack of issues to tackle. ;) I’ve visited a few of the programs, and I’m more and more committed each time I visit or talk with people about it: I can’t wait to start a program in urban planning!
I had a great, albeit short, trip to Maine last week. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this beautiful state!
