I made a small quilt for my daughter’s nursery – for the bear that goes home with the children to stay for a while. I am in the middle of making a single (twin) bed size quilt for my son, which was supposed to be for his first Xmas last year but I got too big with pregnancy to sit at the sewing machine towards the end, and he was really colicky for the first few months so I never finished it in time! I’ll probably give it to him for his first birthday in October instead now!
I made this teddy bear quilt in just one day, so if I put my mind to it, I could finish Jasper’s quilt quite quickly I expect!

Well it’s taken me many many years to get around to doing this but I am finally able to say I can sew. I went on a two-day course to learn how to use my sewing machine and after just the first day I came home and made some personalised bunting for my daughter’s bedroom. After the second day I downloaded a pattern off the internet and made myself a clutch bag to match a dress I was wearing for a friend’s wedding. I was very proud of my first attempts and I shall shortly be enrolling on a beginner’s dressmaking course so that I can learn to make clothes for my children.
I asked my husband for a sewing machine for my birthday, so I now have one sitting upstairs. I haven’t had time to get to use it yet but I’ve got a “learn to use a sewing machine” book and another which has pull out patterns to make simple children’s clothes. Hopefully I’ll get around to making some nice pretty dresses for the girls this summer!
It would be nice to get something else crossed off my list – it’s been a while!
