Run the London Marathon (read all 3 entries…)
First half completed! 3 weeks ago

I ran my first half-marathon at the beginning of October, and managed to complete it in 2hrs35mins. Not bad for someone who only gave birth 5 months previously!
My hips were absolutely killing me by the end (I have torn cartilage in both of my hips), so I don’t think I’ll manage a whole marathon before they get fixed. I might try another half marathon next spring.

I was running this race in memory of my step-dad Paul, who died suddenly in March from an unexpected heart attack (mercifully in his sleep). I managed to raise nearly £500 for the British Heart Foundation. Every time things got tough during the race, I’d think about why I was doing it, which would spur me on. Unfortunately it also made me start to cry, making my throat tighten and causing me difficulty in breathing! So then I’d have to make myself stop thinking about Paul!

The picture is of me at the finish line, receiving my medal – of which I am inordinately proud!

Have a baby (read all 7 entries…)
Had another one! 4 months ago

We decided we’d like a sibling for our gorgeous girl and so started trying when she was 8 months old. I fell pregnant that same month and gave birth to another gorgeous daughter in May this year. Tabitha Rose was much smaller (7lbs 5oz) than her big sister (8lbs 13oz) but I was quite poorly throughout pregnancy so that probably explains it.
Labour whizzed by – only 2hrs 23 mins from first contraction to birth. Much more painful but when it’s that quick it doesn’t matter!

Here’s a pic of her at 7 weeks old, trying out her cloth nappies for the first time!

Ride a camel through the desert
Might get this one crossed off this year! 5 months ago

We are off to Tunisia in September and so I might actually manage to achieve this goal very soon! I’m not particularly keen on camels – they always seem so bad tempered, but hopefully sitting on one won’t be so bad!!
