I had an awful family emergency to deal with. I’m still extremely upset about it. I’m about two months behind my schedule now. I do think I’ll be able to finish this summer, but I probably won’t be able to defend till the fall.

Since my beautiful Breezer was stolen, I’ve been riding an old Schwinn I named Ol’ Squeaky. It’s been six months and Ol’ Squeaky is not doing so well in the winter. I really need a new, actually functional bike, with decent brakes. My friend J. recommended I get the Jamis Commuter 3.0, which looks great, but which I’d have to special order from a place in St. Paul, which is a big pain.

Maybe I’ll sell the darn thing. It never worked particularly well, and it’s sitting reproachfully in pieces in my closet.
