Did this twice while on two separate island/beach vacations. The first time I did sleep out on the beach shore with some friends. Laid a sarong on the sand and slept there under the stars. The second time, well, technically, I didn’t get to sleep ‘cause I was with some friends chatting ‘til the break of dawn.

On the way back to a port on an outrigger very early in the morning, from an island/beach vacation in Puerto Galera in the Philippines, we were pleasantly surprised to see this dolphin swimming (and going up and down the surface of the water) towards our outrigger. Turns out that as it neared our boat and passed by us, it was an orca. Not a gigantic one. Then as soon as it went past the boat, a baby orca surfaced as well and they swam towards the horizon. As soon as they were well clear of the boat, they never surfaced again. We certainly never took our eyes off them. It was an amazing morning.
