Pleased to be back from a fantastic mini break in Adelaide! And… before I left, I booked a flight into Launceston and then out of Hobart (in time to meet the Sydney to Hobart, and my dad!) So… Only Alice Springs and Perth to go!

How I did it: I set a goal, and a time frame. I start with $10,000 and thought, I could put away $500 every week til I reach the goal, which would be in early October (I set this goal at the start on June). I was lucky enough to have some opportunities that helped reach this goal earlier, despite some other unbudgetted automotive expenses, such as overtime, working in high duties, a mistake overpay that was not reversed and my tax return. My… Read how I did it…
So, I’ve lived in Brisbane (17 years), and now live in Sydney (6-7years), and visit Melbourne regularly, including next weekend.
I have booked to go to Adelaide on the 16/09 however I still need to visit
- Alice Springs/Ayres Rock
- Perth
- Hobart
Maybe March for Perth, and Hobart in late Dec when my dad will be finishing the Sydney to Hobart yacht race. My plan is to ‘meet’ these goals before any more international travel!
So I built a garden initially designed at 1m x 1m, but due to the timber we bought to edge it, it’s a fair bit bigger.
I planted peas, sweet peas (not edible, but I love the smell), carrots, onions, rocket and now tomatoes and strawberries. Starting small is good, and seeds are wonderful cause you see them emerge! I have eaten the carrots (warning – put in the fridge straight away or they go limp), peas straight off the plant (outsides are as good as insides!) Rocket was good, although it’s nothing like what you buy. It also went to flower, so we wasted a lot of it :(
I’m thinking of expanding it, now that it’s almost spring, and I’d love to get fruit trees, but I’m a little more concerned, as I think these need special fertilisers, and can take a while to bear fruit… Smalls steps I think!
