am glad that there is indeed one thing that I managed to accomplish over the past year: cook more often. well i live on my own and there are plenty of opportunity to cook, but what really made me feel proud is the fact that I really cook properly for myself now as opposed to just throwing together another pasta dish with sauce from a jar like i did in my early to mid-twenties. I’m really discovering the joy of cooking, even mastering quiches and cakes, and now have several signature dishes that i could whip up handily for dinner parties – yes, even dinner parties don’t faze me now. Can’t believe I actually enjoy cookery programmes now and like reading recipe books!! Am really glad that I can now feed myself properly with home-cooked healthy foods :) Will keep this up and continue to upgrade my culinary skills!

How I did it: Make an opportunity out of a crisis (in my case a computer hard disk failure that forced me to clear my desk) and just do it! Stock up on folders, have stapler and most importantly, recycle waster paper basket on the ready before you do and just get on with it! Read how I did it…
It was very daunting especially because my family situation was extremely bad at the time and I had to move out in secret, but it was absolutely worth doing. Get organised and you would be fine. I inventoried all my belongings, got an interim place rented and then packed all my boxes when my family was on vacation, then hired a removal company and moved the bulk of my stuff into storage. I then actively looked for an apartment of my own while house-sharing, and got my mortgage approval sorted with the help of a broker, and then about a few months ago I finally moved into my own sweet home! There was a lot of frustration and worry but all the blood sweat and tears were worth it! My family and I are also now on much better terms now that we don’t have to live with each other.
