stop biting my fingernails
Biting fingernails is a sign of immaturity 4 years ago

Actually biting your fingernails is a sign that you haven’t grown. The reasoning behind is that the reason some bite their nails is that as a child it became something enjoyable to do and maybe even became a sense of security for some. It easily becomes an addiction through force of habit, and it was gained in a stage of immaturity. Whenever the biting of the nails occurs, the person is either reliving the enjoyment as a child or the sense of security as a child. And as such, it would be considered somewhat of an immature action.
I’m not saying this to critique all those nail biters but to be a motivation. It did help me try to change. It helps set the mindset of the change: biting fingernails is a sign of immaturity. And whenever I thought of biting my nails, I considered my maturity level.
Yea I know, it’s not like I can think it and do it. I did bite my nails mindlessly. I actually tried putting nasty stuff on my nails to help me not bite it. But I grew not to mind (and sometimes even enjoy) the taste of the nasty stuff, and I ended biting my nail anyway. Yea, some of you could try that, but for me it didn’t help.
What I actually did was to grow my nails until a certain length and cut it with a nail cutter. Whenever I thought of biting it, I just thought ‘I have to grow it this long first’. And soon I didn’t need to grow my nails, I just have a nail cutter handy all the time. Oh and just a helpful hint, if you’re going to grow it and cut it, when you cut it don’t cut it all the way. It’ll force back the habit because you think of how short it is, so you bite and say I’ll start again some other time. Cut it so that there’s still a short length then grow it again. Oh and don’t try to grow it too long, it gets dirty easily and umm scratch people easily too.
I hope this helps you guys. Keep working on it! It’s nice to have clean fingernails.
