I’ve been trying to tell him for months, just because I feel like that’s the final step in clearing the air. Seriously, we’ve known each other for a third of our lives now. Unfortunately it’s hard to just go, “Hey, I like your shoes, and PS I was madly in love with you for a creepishly long time! Where’d you get ‘em?”
It so happened that I told him on Valentine’s- not at all to be romantic, but given the nature of the holiday we were discussing love (and how we think the holiday is silly, because EVERYDAY should be like that), and I told him, “Now would be a good time to casually mention that I was in love with you for years. It’s really not a big deal though, since it’s old news, and I’m pretty sure you knew.”
His response? “Well, of course you know I’ve loved you for years too!”
I was happy to accomplish that goal, and feeling a bit bittersweet about it, until I noticed his LACK of PAST TENSE.
Moral? I WIN!!!
