I’ve been wanting to patch-up my wardrobe a lot lately, especially since I feel like I’ve fallen into the standard university slump of sweatshirts, jeans and sneakers. I try to keep things different by pairing graphic hoodies cut for women, with skinny jeans and my Sailor Jerry pin-up girl Converses, but I still feel schlubby a lot of the time. My summer internship has helped me a little bit in this area, as since I work in an office, I’ve traded the hoodies for cardigans, but on cold or rainy days, I still find myself reaching for my favorite hoodie all over again and it makes me feel so blah.
My best friend promised me that when we get back to school, she’ll help me fix up my wardrobe (being a lot more fashionable than me), but money is really tight (thank you economy for making sure summer students can’t get jobs), so I don’t know how much new stuff I’ll be able to get and if I can stop myself from falling back into my old habits…

Several years later I started at a performing arts high school, where a lot of the students have multiple piercings and I started thinking that I wanted to get another one. Finally, in my second year of uni, after ruling out several types of piercings, I went, on a whim, with on… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Everyone in my family has graduated from uni, so I knew that I should probably go too. The hardest part for me was picking which school I wanted to go to and what program to be in. I spent a lot of time with my guidance counselor, narrowing down my choices, but now I'm entering third year at (what I consider) one of the best schools in Canada Read how I did it…
How I did it: I was interested in interning at some of my larger local papers, but realized that I had no published portfolio, so effectively had nothing to offer them in terms of my skills. I then approached the editor of my neighborhood newspaper, a bi-monthly publication, about possible volunteer opportunities, if only for the experience. Instead I became the summer intern and was given two articles to write on the first day, both of which hav… Read how I did it…
