So I had two obstacles:
*A guitar that didn’t feel good to play
*Lack of time
I have two guitars, and because it was a pain to always pull out my amp, it was my acoustic that was always at my fingertips. But when I would grab it to play, it hurt my fingers, didn’t sound good at all no matter what I did, and left me disheartened. So I stopped picking it up.
What I discovered after all this time, is that if I just pick up my Gibson Les Paul Studio, which I can hear even if it isn’t plugged in, I can almost instantly make nice sounds come out it without making my fingers bleed, even with my limited skill.
Flylady says we can do ANYTHING for fifteen minutes and that has proved true. So I committed to finding fifteen minutes a day to playing guitar. This, as you can imagine, almost always leads to playing longer.
Finally I can work on my timing and my fingerwork!
