Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

change of plans

so after numerous discussions with my mother, i think what i’m going to end up doing is take a semester or more off from school next year and spend a prolonged period of time in new zealand, australia, fiji, hawaii, and who knows where else. that way i can fine tune my itinerary and i won’t be limited by time or season.

Let my Hair Grow long
So far so good

The last time I had my hair cut was in August of ‘07. It’s grown more than 3” in 6 months which isn’t so bad. I always get the urge to cut it all off though, which makes this very difficult to achieve. My goal is to let it grow as long as I can until I move back to Chicago at the end of the summer. Then I’ll be cutting it all off as a symbol of starting over again. Hopefully I can beat the heat :)

airplane ticket

I’m close to having enough money to buy my plane ticket, which I think will solidify things a bit. Assuming prices don’t jump to ridiculous rates I’ll be able to afford it by mid March.

Hooray for actually getting things done!

make a list of quotes that inspire me
"A fine quotation is a diamond in the hand of a man of wit and a pebble in the hand of a fool"

one of my favorite things to do is collect quotes and file them away for special occasions like writing letters or birthday cards.
the best website i’ve found is http://www.thinkexist.com because you can compile and organize all your favorites on the site. it’s quite useful.

ride an elephant
Untitled

riding an elephant was definitely one of the coolest things i’ve ever done. if the opportunity ever presents itself, don’t hesitate!

take a photography class
the first time is all it takes

my first photo class was in 6th grade. although i didnt know it at the time, that class was the reason i decided to become a photographer and to go to art school. taking an art class, be it photo or not, can open doors you didnt know existed.

drink tea every day
cup o' joy

it’s not only relaxing but incredibly delicious. tea is the best companion for quiet contemplation.

go out for sushi
tasty little fishies

i go out for sushi quite frequently, and even though it can end up being a little on the expensive side it’s always worth the time and money. not to mention it’s delicious and yummy!! _
