Beijing was cool. We went to a pearl factory, the temple of the winds, Mao’s tomb, the forbidden city, the great wall, a disco, a school to talk with some students about Ameiguo. I only wish I could have spoken better Mandarin. Being a tourist is so lame, but actually getting to know people and a culture, that’s cool.

Learning arabic, as a native english speaker, is really tough. I’ve never been more frustrated than when trying to remember all the different forms and cases and rules. Anyway, i’m still working on it, but I spent 5 months in Alex with my wife and we’re probably going to Amman in a few years. Anyway, it’s nice to be able to talk intelligently about the Middle East and have an idea of what’s going on over there, and it was great to talk to people in Egypt and be able to carry on substantial and meaningful conversations.
