It's getting closer to a year in our apartment

And I never did all of the things I wanted to do with it. We’re talking about trying to find another apartment complex to live in, especially after my car got caught in the flash flood in our parking lot of all places.
We are looking for a new place in a couple months probably (within price range)
1. Must allow cats (If not we’ll be sneaking Shelby in! Just kidding but kind of seriously)
2. More space in the kitchen and maybe another room
3. A washer and dryer
4. Off street parking
5. A dishwasher
6. Is reasonably close to both of our works

We can sacrifice a few of these things of course but we really want to try and find something with all of these things.

Vegas! (In 2014) (read all 2 entries…)
Vegas hopes and dreams a little bashed

Since I’ve last posted our luck went a little downhill. Our cat has been sick so we’ve been taking her to the vet almost weekly to get examined, in two weeks she’s going to have to get surgery and it’s going to take a very large portion of our vegas trip money. At that point we could have probably still taken the trip in August if we wanted to but we decided to not go in August in case some emergency happened and we needed the extra cash. Of course within two days of deciding this there was a terrible storm and my car got flooded, joy! The car is not entirely ruined and it still runs but we have had a terrible time trying to get the water out of my car and it’s making strange noises.
So we’ve postponed our trip and decided to save to go in the winter of 2014 like we had originally planned. This time we will go for a week which will hopefully give us better options for flying schedules. A longer week will also ensure that we get to go to all of the shows we want to see AND see the Grand Canyon. I really wanted to see the Grand Canyon more than anything else but would have sacrificed it if we didn’t have time, now I won’t have to!

Sketch/write daily
A long rambling message that never seems to get to the point

It seems like I never really figured out how to finish anything I start or how exactly to be happy. I feel worthless for not knowing what I want and I feel like my life is wasting away and I’m not doing anything with it and I’m only 23.
I go to work everyday 8AM-whenever I feel okay with leaving (normally around 7-8PM) because I literally have nothing better to do, I don’t have friends, I don’t have family (minus Ian) I don’t have plans my life is kind of just dull yet anxiety filled.
I’m tired of battling these thoughts in my head about why I’m not friendly enough? Why can’t I talk to people and be normal and have friends? And the big one: Why don’t I have any ambition to do ANYTHING literally ANYTHING besides work? I just don’t have interest in anything and whatever I do get an intense interest for just burns out after a few days or at most a few weeks. I keep trying to find something and stick with it to see if I like it but I can never seem to make it past a week.
This makes me wonder, am I going to regret not doing anything with my life when I’m old?
I don’t have any answers, I hardly expect anyone else to have answers for me either. The only thing I do remember loving is sketching and just meeting my own expectations and drawing without anyone judging it. I haven’t touched my sketchbooks since highschool when I was journaling daily and Matt stole it and read the whole damn thing and ruined it.
Long rambling story short, I’m starting a new sketchbook and I’m trying to stick with it for a year, for honest. I plan on posting a picture of what I draw everyday and I hope I figure something out. I doubt drawing everyday will answer all of my problems and anxiety issues but it’s gotta help somewhere.
I hope to start tomorrow, I would start today but I started today by dumping coffee over all of the pages because I never draw in sketchbooks because the pages are too white and pristine and it makes me nervous I’m going to eff it up. Which I always end up doing, then quitting so I took that part out of the equation and effed it up first so now I can just draw when the pages dry assuming I didn’t ruin it and the whole book doesn’t fall apart.

Taking a walk or doing yoga when I'm bored instead of going on the computer
Complete, or close to

My main issue was that I was spending so much time on the computer. Now with my full time job I don’t even want to touch my computer when I get home. We’ve also started trying to be more active so I’m going to mark this finished for now.

paint more
I forgot, how much I love painting

cleaning my apartment I came across my old acrylic paints. I abandoned cleaning and started painting instead. A glass of wine later and I’m almost finished. I think I need to start painting and sketching again.

It might end up being August 2013

depending on how much Ian’s car is going to be. We are getting back more on our tax returns than we originally thought so we might be able to go at the end of August this summer! I requested a thursday, friday and monday off and we plan to go over the weekend. I’m currently trying to sell things I have around my apartment that we don’t want or use anymore. Which helps me out on another goal I have to get rid of things.
We would like to do the following there:
See a few shows, (Penn and Teller and Cirque du Soleil for sure)
I would like to go to the Grand Canyon since we are already going to be on that side of the country but I am not sure if it’s possible time wise.
See my friend John who lives there, if there is time. I won’t feel bad if we don’t see him because he cancelled our plans when he came to PA. But if I get to see him it would be nice.
We want to visit the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop, Ian wants to check out the guitars and in general see the store.
We would also like to stay in a cool hotel, I was thinking Mandalay Bay, I would like to see the shark reef. However, any hotel is pretty much cool with us it just has to be decently priced.
We obviously would go to the casinos too at some point but it’s not really a priority for us to gamble.
We think the most expensive parts of the trip are going to be the plane tickets and the hotel room.

I have to see if I can get coupons or see if I can get any kind of deals for anything but I don’t know where to start. I never really went on a vacation before and don’t know where to start looking Ahh!

A few things

Sold a ribbon board that I didn’t really like on Ebay. I way underestimated the shipping but I still made some profit. I really need to find a scale, I can’t find one for packages anywhere in any of the stores near me and if I keep selling things I really need one.

Sold an Owl matryoshka doll that I’ve had for awhile on Etsy. Hopefully the other ones sell soon too. If they don’t I want to find good homes for them.

Gave away a small red purse that had a cheetah print and matching cheetah umbrella to my friend. I kept it knowing she really likes both Cheetah and red.

Gave away quite a few of the cigar boxes I’ve been hoarding to the same friend. She seemed to enjoy them so it worked out.

Got rid of a ton of magazines we’ve had around but don’t need along with a bunch of useless papers.

"Juice" one meal a day for 30 days (read all 2 entries…)
Days 2-6

Day 2, Minty Berry Juice, with blueberries, kiwis, blackberries, strawberries and mint leaves. It tasted great but had a weird fuzzy texture and I thought it might be because Ian didn’t take off the skin of the kiwi fruit. Though he swore that it shouldn’t matter.

Day 3, Blackberry Kiwi juice, pineapple, blackberries and kiwis. This time we took the skin off and it was MUCH better. Kiwi skins are NOT going in the juicer again.

Day 4, Pomegranate-Blueberry Juice. Just blueberries and Pomegranate. I didn’t like this one much, I had never had a pomegranate before and didn’t know they were so bitter! I took a big sip and immediately regretted it. I’ll have to work on those.

Day 5, Carrot Pineapple Orange Juice, Orange, pineapple, carrots, lemon. This would have been good with maybe half of the amount of lemon and orange we used. It was VERY acidic and I couldn’t taste the carrots and pineapple over the lemons and orange. We’ll probably come back to this one in the future and tweak the recipe.

Random juice- Ian wanted to just make juice and using the veggies we had in the fridge, baby carrots, celery, mangos and an orange and juiced them all to create a very very not great drink. Celery as it turns out in large doses is very salty. I never had really noticed before, I add it to my soup for lunch. I was surprised that he had used those ingredients, he doesn’t like carrots or celery. But it was interesting overall.

This upcoming week the juices are including more vegetables so it’s going to be interesting.

Day 1

We bought a juicer at bed bath and beyond and the woman at the counter was kind and applied a coupon that took forty dollars off of our juicer. We bought five meals worth of fruit from the grocery store and made our first juice this morning for breakfast because neither of us regularly eat breakfast. We are following a blog that has recipies for 30 days to follow. It starts off slow with fruity juices and everyday incorporates more veggies.
This morning was pineapple, pears, strawberry, and mint and was really good. Ian liked it too which surprised me because he hates pineapple. While I like fruits and fruit juice I’m nervous about green veggie juices. I never liked v8 drinks and I’m afraid I’m going to want to quit. Veggies by themselves are ok. I’m excited to see how this goes though.

A week so far

Better than nothing. It’s unfortunately our best record so far but we are trying to change that by actually sticking with this this time.

I’m finding that all of the new movies I watch are already marked off on my letter list and Netflix streaming just doesn’t seem to have many movies these days. This has been a fun goal though. I’ve been watching many movies I wouldn’t typically watch.

It's slowly getting there.

I finally finished this panel thing last night I wanted to make to hide my cats litter box from sight when you are walking by or sitting. It’s a little shorter than I want it to be but it was much cheaper making it than buying one would have been. Now I just need to get a bunch of photographs for it so it’s not quite as boring as the black background.
Next I really want to get curtains for the living room area, the blinds are driving me nuts and it doesn’t feel like home in my apartment yet. It’s tough to find something we like thats going to match. We are trying to have a “space themed” living room, as in outer space. So far it’s not really working out to be that but we are still working on it. We are allowed to paint so we are going to try painting some of the rooms soon and hopefully that will make it more home-y.

New hoop and tricks

I’m not really at home long enough to do anything anymore but I always try to hoop a little bit every day even if it’s just for two minutes.
I really only had one hoop that I used everyday and I recently decided to get a polypro hoop for my birthday. I’ve been using it since I received it and I like it but it’s really light in comparison to my other hoop. I’ve been practicing breaking with it and it’s working out very well. I feel like I’m starting over though. It’s tough hooping on my knees which I can do with my other hoop but I’ll get it on this one soon.

I hoop every now and then when I have 15 minutes or so.

However I haven’t been keeping up with this goal as well as I had intended to. Yesterday I woke up really early and got to hoop for fifteen glorious minutes before I smashed into the coffee table and knocked stuff off of it and woke Ian up, whoops!
This morning I hooped for awhile too. I’m hoping that once I really get into hooping everyday again that other parts of my life will come together too and I’ll work out some kind of schedule.

Daily: Reflect on 5 things for which I'm grateful. (read all 79 entries…)
Sunday September 23rd

1. Went for a long walk with my neighbor/friend yesterday. She and her boyfriend live next door and they are Ian’s old lab partners. I hope we will become close friends.
2. Dr. Who yesterday
3. That our electricity wasn’t out for very long yesterday. I was worried about our groceries spoiling.
4. For DQ blizzards, I had never tried one before and it was less than 5 dollars for Ian and I to both get one. We always spend more than that at Ritas.
5. For our new little nephew, he’s really Ian’s but I don’t know how else to call him :)
