Today marks 62 days sober, 2 months without a drop. I’m being optimistic and posting a day early, but I’m sure I’ll make it through tonight. I’ve had lots of ups and downs, but I’ve managed to control my urges to grab the bottle. My advice, so far, is to reward yourself for your small victories. I bought myself a nice, new camera and some wood working tools with what would’ve been my drinking money for 2 months. Instead of heading to the bars on the weekend, I’m going to work on photography and start building bird houses. Here is to another 2 months!

I’ve made it one month without alcohol. In that time I’ve dealt with the consequences and untold personal pain from two specific events that occurred while influenced by alcohol. I’ve been tempted many times to hit the bottle, but have thus far managed to stay straight. I’m definitely not out-of-the-woods yet, but everyday that pull to drink becomes a little less. The grip is coming loose. I’ve made a promise to myself and my family and I intend to keep it. It’s the only way I’ll come out a better man.
