Donate blood
Donating Blood 21 months ago

I have a phobia of needles, so it’s kind of more… exciting… I guess, for people like me. It takes some psyching up, some deep breaths, to do it, and once it’s done, the feeling of relief at how much it doesn’t hurt, and how irrational a phobia is, is quite worth it.

Plus the free food.

I can understand people who think they can’t give blood. However, I’ve found a lot of people on the internet saying they won’t give blood because the ad campaigns for it try to guilt-trip them into it, so they won’t give in to that tactic. This is so retarded. Who cares what attitude you infer from the advertising. You’re not doing it for the Red Cross, you’re doing it for people who need blood, which might well be you or your family.

read French literature - in French
All Quiet on The Western Front 2 years ago

I know it was originally written in German, but I found a copy of it in French, and seeing as I already know it well in English, I thought it would be a good start.

Then I’ll move onto the real french stuff.

relearn calculus so I intuitively understand it
if only I hadn't drunk during math lectures at uni... 2 years ago

It’s not my fault that they scheduled Mathematics for Science on Bar Trivia night. They forced me to choose. They’re so manipulative.

Well now I don’t have uni anymore, much less a science degree, so I’m gradually losing all that knowledge that I never learned in the first place.

I think I should start with maths and work my way up. Calculus is a good start – surely I haven’t forgotten anything before that… I hope. I would ask one of my friends for help, but the one I know to be mathy is quite insane, and despite also doing a science degree, he tried to convince me once that UV radiation is not electromagnetic radiation. So I think I’ll have to go it alone.

Anyway, I’m not sure how I will apply it in my new world of computer hardware sales, but I’m sure it’s good for my brain, just like Pilates would be good for my body in some vague unknown way.
