Convert my site to Ruby on Rails
Converting GKB to Ruby on Rails 2 months ago

Something I’ve been working on for a while now (well, on and off over the last half year or so…) is converting www.girlskickbutt.com from a PHP based site to a Ruby on Rails one.

This is actually pretty far along, but there is still more work to be done. I need to add a few more tools to the admin and we need to get a decent design to relaunch the site with.

learn to skateboard
The only thing stopping me... 2 months ago

from learning to “skateboard” is the fact that I’m 32 (soon to be 33) and I’d be embarrassed to take lessons and have the 9 year old students laughing at me when I fall on my ass.

Still, I should really seek out taking lessons (maybe even privately) to at least give it a try. I told myself I would do it last summer but I never did.

And all I really want to be able to do are some rail slides and the like. I don’t care about vert or crazy flip tricks. Just a nose or board slide would be an accomplishment.

Of course, I can’t even ollie…

At some point in my life I’d like to have designed, created and released a video game. Something that can either be played on the computer or on a console via something like Xbox Live Arcade/XNA.

I have taken small stabs at this sort of thing before but have never completed a project.
