The price of bread in Hawaii has just gotten so high that I have to consider a bread machine. A loaf of the cheapie kid bread is almost $4. Real bread is over $6. My friend that knows everything and I had a great discussion about it the other day. He has made about 100 loaves of bread with his machine in the last year. He has calculated it out to be approximately $1 per loaf, ingredients and power included. Its roughly $2 if you factor in the cost of the machine. His was $140. And he even knows how much time it takes for him to clean the machine and prepare for the next batch. He is my best friend and I am so lucky that he knows these things. Healthy bread in an unhealthy world. Seems reasonable.

How I did it: I applied for every job that I could for about 5 months and I'm working every day of the week now. but a year ago I didn't know how to get an extra job and now I do. Read how I did it…
How I did it: thought alot about what I thought represented my place on the earth, hawaii. So important that we think and live globally now more than ever. I gathered materials for a few weeks then started to design the pages. Had to redo a couple of things and added bits and pieces later as things became clearer to me. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Well, I started by moving into a little cottage with and empty lot between me and the street. So it looked like an empty lot. Instead of planting grass, I started gardening. I had a friend that taught me how to grow different things. I had bean tee-pee's, rows of corn, sunflowers, more zuccini that I could eat, giant tomatoes, potatoes, chard, the chard wouldn't go away, lettus, and I mixed in flowers. Read how I did it…

Awoke this morning to monsoon rains, gentle tradewinds blowing through my windows, and the sound of an email update being delivered to my email on my iPhone. I rolled over to the pillow next to me and opened my twitter feed to find a tiny url link to a great blog by wonkette. http://wonkette.com/409650/insane-sarah-palin-late-at-night-on-july-4-threatens-to-sue-entire-internet-via-twitter The story is surreal, and it makes you glad we live in the land of the free. Yes, Sarah, you have lost your mind and we are all so glad you are not a heartbeat away from running our country. The comments hit me right in my heart. I love this country. I love the world. I love blogging and twitter and all things digital. Thats why I sleep with my iPhone.
We just aren’t getting this water thing right. Hard to really face.
