today is day one with the running. after looking at some of the other postings around running, one led me to this site http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml which has a training schedule for couch potatoes. so off i went to the park and got started… and it didn’t kill me or make me sick. I want to make this as painless and enjoyable as possible so that i will keep it up and the training schedule is perfect really. am going shopping for special running shoes tomorrow which will definitely add to the motivation to get out there three times a week, is amazing what new shoes can do for a lady!

Today is my 8th day of giving up smoking… for good, and in that time I have only had one and it wasn’t the end of the world. Just got on with giving up again instead of making it mean that i had failed. I’m using patches which have taken the edge off the whole experience and seem to be working by taking care of the physical addiction while i take care of breaking the psychological triggers and habits i’ve formed around smoking for the past ten years (coffee and cigarettes, work and cigarettes, alcohol and cigarettes etc). The strangest thing is looking at other people smoking and thinking why are they allowed to smoke and not me? Which i think means i still have some way to go!?
