I have started adding some PHP 5 code to my websites. I have found some good uses for simplexml, and I am slowly rewriting my database code to use mysqli. I haven’t used much of the new object model, but I will use it when writing new code for my own use. I am developing all my sites using php 5.1, and my webhost (dreamhost) has 5.1. I’m glad they keep up with technology trends.

I’ve been programming in PHP for a little over 2 years, and I’ve really taken a liking to it. Before that, I have had 15 years of programming experience (mostly C++). I have written my own content management system, which I am constanly refining. I would say PHP is my favorite language at the moment. It is fun using the GD library and PHP to generate images. I have made a maze drawing program, a tree drawing program, a gradient generator, and other fun graphical tidbits.
