So. Last August and September I was running a lot. I got so that I would run for about 25 minutes, take a walking break, then do a shorter run (about 15 minutes). So close!
But then, university started again in October and it got harder to make time. That’s precisely what I’m doing now though: making time. I told myself I would keep going to the gym (I have a bad hip which makes running outside in winter REALLY difficult) three times a week, even if I didn’t increase my runs. I’m using the couch to 5k programme again, and am only doing week 3 at the moment, but it’s something. I’d rather make slow progress I can stick to, than take it too quick and end up stopping altogether. So this is probably a longer term goal than I originally imagined, but I’m totally OK with it!

I’ve completed 5 days of level 1 and it’s been going pretty well. Today I’m taking a rest day, my knees are pretty sore and I had an allergy attack yesterday so I’m not feeling so good today. I think I’m going to do alternating days for a while until I feel better again. I know the results will probably be slower, but I don’t mind that if it saves me from quitting altogether. Also, I think I need to work on my form in the ab moves as I’m getting a bit of neck strain. I’m doing this alongside yoga 3 times a week, couch to 5k 3 times a week, and swimming lessons once a week… plus I walk a fair bit and cycling is my mode of transport so I don’t think cutting back on the Jillian Michaels should hurt my fitness progress too much.
I like the workout so far though, it’s challenging but not impossible. I’ve read a lot about the transition to level 2 being horrendous, but I’ve watched it and I quite like planks so I’m looking forward to giving it a go. I’ll probably regret saying that in a week or so’s time!
