I used to do this all the time…it would be nice again. I’ve cut down on my friends though and moved about nine times so I’m down to about 2 friends and one fiance that I can have these fascinating conversations with. Maybe I’ll meet some new, fascinating people in the near future. ; )

I can’t see how or when I will ever accomplish this but I’m not giving up this dream.
I’ve already come so far…
I once owned 158 pairs of shoes. I’m down to about 40. I used to have three giant closets of clothes. Now just one. I used to be a coca-cola guzzling, mindless Wal-Mart zombie chanting “buy…buy…buy” in my sleep. Becoming poor for a while combined with moving three times in one year has taught me much. I really don’t need all that stuff.
I used to have five seperate email addresses, six different groups of friends/acquaintances that weren’t even that loyal, two phone numbers, bluetooth, nintendo ds, playstation, computer accessories coming out my ears, dvd collections, about 25 different e-newsletters delivered to my inbox everyday, memberships to three different community organizations that required many valuable hours of my spare time…the list continues to unroll. I finally gave myself permission to say – ENOUGH.
I now have just TWO best friends, one email address, one phone, no cable tv and peace and quiet. I say no to the life sucking activities lorded guiltily over me. And I don’t feel bad. I have a lot to do! Like brewing my own beer and biodiesel…learning to grow my own food, learning to can, learning to make soap, learning to sew, learning chinese medicine and herbology…and lets not forget laying in my hammock listening to my ipod in my spare time. Yeah…I still have that.
Somehow…the simple life seems ineffably more gratifying than the modern life.
