it seems strange, looking back, that i WASNT in college at some point. but now i remember the year i had my apartment – i dropped all my fall classes after 4 weeks. i returned the next fall, to a different community college, and not for nursing, for culinary arts focused on baking, and random GER’s so that i can eventually get and AS or transfer to a 4 year school for a BS if i ever found something i really loved and could succeed in.
This semester, if i can find a bakery job, i’ll complete the co-op needed to get my professional baker’s certificate (another 43 things goal). I might possibly even receive my professional cook’s certificate as well.
Going back to college is completely worth it once you can discipline yourself to put school first, and find something you’re passionate about. sometimes that something is as simple as getting any degree so you wont be working the same job at age 30 that you could have gotten at age 16.
I’ve been a full time student since fall 06, between both culinary and massage therapy programs. it gets hard sometimes, and sometimes you dont care and slack off and want to quit. but if you can stick to it, keep saying you’re “this close” instead of “that far”, remembering that even the most hated class will be over in 4-5 months, and to stay in an study for your text the night before , cuz the 90 vs 70 on your grade is worth one night of un-fun. I could go on forever, but i’ll stop and jsut really really tmi.
