get out of a rut (read all 4 entries…)
We did it!!!

Two months ago this was all just plans. Now it’s reality! We did it! We found work and moved to a new city! We’ve amazed ourselves. Is this a dream?

Our new home is almost 2,000km further north in a different state. In the southern hemisphere (we live in Australia), moving north means moving to a warmer climate. The weather here is tropical. It’s so nice to be warm for a change! And even though it’s winter we need ceiling fans to stay cool. Will probably take some time to acclimatize.

The change has done a lot for me. Spurred me on to make more changes! I’ve done the previously unthinkable: turned down opportunities to work in my professional career in favour of trying something completely different. A bit risky. But so what? I’m on a roll with this rut busting business! Good-bye public service, hello private sector!! I am beginning my new job on Monday with a leading furniture company as a salesperson! I’ll be fluffing cushions and helping people decorate their homes. Very different from analyzing statistics and writing government reports! Can’t wait!! My new work place is having a special dinner to welcome me on Monday evening. I think it’s going to be fun!

serious rut busting!

I’ve spent this afternoon booking accommodation & organising a last minute rut-busting trip to another city! -The ACTUAL city we are planning to MOVE TO very soon (squeal)!

It was only two days ago we decided to make this big change. There’s nothing like moving to another state for getting out of a rut!

My husband has organised several job interviews and if successful he plans to enroll in night school to progress his career. There is also an opportunity for me to study medical journalism (whoahoo)!
